Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #8 (1988)
The Evolutionary War #10
Story #1: (Return to Sender)
Guest-Starring: The Young Gods

Two gatherers in a Flying battle-car are after, of all people, Gwen Stacy (Ain't she dead?). Spidey 'convinces' them to return to base, via teleport. The High Evolutionary looks in on the Young Gods and decides that they aren't worth his time. The young Gods go to Earth. The head Gatherer returns with a massive suit of armor, blasts Spidey, grabs Gwen, and teleports out.

Spidey jumps into the teleportational backlash and winds up in the Evolutionary's command sub in the midst of Purifiers, Gatherers, Eliminators and the High Evolutionary himself. Just when Spidey thinks himself on the short end of the stick, one team of the Young Gods arrive and start womping the armored guys. Then the other team shows up to try to stop the first, and all hell breaks loose. The battle ends when the giant suit of battle armor is destroyed, Gwen is removed from an analyzing device and one of the Young Gods really screws up one of their own.

When the Young God, Caduceus, recovers they depart with no further mishap. The Evolutionary returns Spidey and Gwen Stacy's clone, who wasn't a clone at all, to New York. The Young God, Daydreamer, who had FUBARed Caduceus removes all illusion from the 'clones' mind of ever being Gwen.

Notes:
Spidey fans rejoice. Fans of huge battles rejoice. That was an excellent fight.

Story #2 (Opposing Forces)
A mixed team of Young Gods goes to Israel and fight a huge robot. The Young Gods, three of the six, resort to creating a uni-mind, which destroyed the thing easily enough. It looked impressive.

Notes:
That was only 3% of the potential power of a Uni-Mind created by Young Gods, of course that group only contains 14 members of two differing factions. All-in-all, an interesting team.

Story #3 (The High Evolutionary, Chapter 10, The Son of Earth)
After evolving himself to Godhood, the Evolutionary creates an asteroid command post. He then re-creates his armor and his physical body, devolving back to mortality, but 'at least 100,000 years further along than mainstream humanity.'  (This is his current form)

Shows the creation of Counter-Earth, the naming of Adam Warlock, the theft of Counter-Earth and the killing of the High Evolutionary. Death put him right back into Godhood.

Notes:
Truly a flashback. The original story had to have been a drawn out affair.  To be shrunk down to 6 pages is something that isn't what I call a good story. But, hey, it gave me more information about his background, which was what I was looking for.
