Though Furgoin society is Matriarchal in nature, some males hold positions of
great prestige. One such male is Lord Shimban, who is the head of Legal Records
at the Furgoin Embassy. Though his position is important, his title is honorary
in nature, enabling him to attend official policy and diplomatic meetings, he
can only offer his comments. Furgoin society prohibits any higher contributions,
like voting on policy, to any male, even the Queen's Consort. (Males are allowed
to vote in public elections and referenda)
Lord Shimban has been with the Embassy for a long time. Longer even than the
diplomat that he is shown greeting has even been alive. As such he is a fixture
here, and is highly respected and is given the highest honors his position is
due, even if it were filled by capable female.
Here he is greeting the Mistress from Lomein, who was off-planed when the
Kar'Rin invaded. She has been at the Embassy almost every day since then, trying
to pressure the Empire into pushing the invaders off.
