His race was the dominant species of the entire dimension, and then, the only species of life in that dimension. Eventually, the members of the race got bored, so bored in fact that they started to die. One day something strange happened, and it was quite the rage for hundreds of years. A being different from Arnor's race appeared, this was Kalem-Akrol. She observed the manic intensity of the beings interest in her. These beings would kill themselves (or others) in an attempt to see her. Kalem-Akrol left that dimension shortly after her arrival, but that didn't stop the desperately bored race from trying to capture the very elements that she had touched. The population soon became decimated, barely 100 individuals now existed in the entire dimension. She felt bad about that, and returned to that dimension and created a life giving world. This world would, if left unharmed, allow life to be created on the other barren worlds. Again, she left. This time she told everyone what the world was, and why it should be left mostly untouched. As massively bored people will do, they approached the planet, to explore it's wonders. Arnor alone tried to keep his people off of the world. He could stop some, but not all, and not indefinitely. As the life on that planet slowly started to die away, Arnor was distraught. Seeing this, Kalem-Akrol brought him into the dimension that she was in. He alone, of the entire race of beings, which had grown to number in the thousands, refused to set foot on the World of Life. He alone, tried to defend that young world from his fellows. Arnor was given the Omniversal Staff and instructed in some of it's uses. He used the staff to return to his home dimension and remove everyone from the nearly dead planet. But he could not keep people away. People started to attack him in numbers. They found a new game to ease their boredom. Eventually, Arnor fled from his dimension and began to explore the other dimensions that he had access to. Some were overly chaotic and reminded him too much of the dimension that he just left. Some were eternally blissful and reminded him of his home before Kalem-Akrol arrived. Others had a good mix, with innocent lives (representing the World of Life) and evil and corrupt lives (representing the members of his race that would destroy it). He found that in these places he was content defending the innocent and battling evil for the sake of innocence. But one location wasn't enough. He had to roam space as he was accustomed to. The difference here is that this dimension, this universe, was teaming with life, and he vowed to keep it that way. Kalem-Akrol was pleased. |
