Sea Shadow
Crew: 4. Commander, Helmsman (Pilot), Navigator, Electronic Systems Operator (Weapons) Capacity: There is berthing space for 8 people, allowing for three sets of crews. The Sea Shadow can create drinking water, and oxygen for the entire crew. The galley has enough storage space for 6 months of supplies for a minimum crew of 4. Power: Produced by 4 Fusion bottles operating at 30% Propulsion: Hydrodynamic-Ion drive. There is no moving parts to be jammed, no turbines to create noise. The only noise associated with this drive is a very faint 'whoosh' created by the constriction of the water flowing through the propulsion system. Marine life is not harmed, even if drawn through the system, possibly just dazed. Hull: Twin hulls. The outer hull holds the armor and contains the detection gear, as well as the weapon mounts. The inner hull is a combination of a titanium/iridium alloy and composites. The bridge of the vessel, is actually more like a cockpit of a bomber. It has a wrap-around viewport that is made of man-made industrial-grade diamond that has been fabricated to the exact shape required. Sensors: Audio, Sonar, Thermal, Magnetic Anomaly, Visual, Radar (when on surface only), pressure and Ionic sensors are all standard gear for the vessel. All are ranked at Incredible. Payload: Six torpedoes, either standard, wire guided torpedoes doing Remarkable explosive damage or Fire-and-Forget Barracuda's, or any combination of the two. The payload compartment is between the outer and inner hulls, when a weapon is to be launched, it is primed then ejected from the bay. Other Weaponry: A forward firing naval (blue-green) laser of Amazing intensity is triggered by the Pilot of he vessel. and can engage any target either in water or not. Depth: Designed safe depth is 2000 meters, however the maximum depth for the vehicle is not fully known. Theoretically, the crush depth of the vessel is deeper than the deepest part of the ocean. Appearance: The Sea Shadow appears more like a aircraft than a typical submarine. The craft has it's dive planes well forward and blended in with the fuselage, to make it look more like a hammerhead shark There are ducted water inlets just forward of amidships and the propelled water is forced from a point near the stern. The thrust can be vectored to provide for much improved handling. If the vessel were to lose power and sink, the bow, and the crew compartment, would be directly over the stern in a vertical position. If the power returned, the vessel could then propel itself to the surface. The vessel has a natural buoyancy above 100 meters, higher than that point, the vessel will rise if power is lost, below that it would sink. Notes: To verify the survivability of the vessel at great depths, the testing plan is that it will be piloted remotely by wire to the deepest ocean canyon known to exist. There the plan is to go to ground and run several integrity checks on the weapons systems, the engines, and the crew area. Test firing of dummy barracudas at a surface vessel is planned after the integrity check. Then the Naval Laser will be fired (at the same ship) If the tests are successful, then the design and test footage, can be submitted to the U.S. Department of Defense. If they are not interested, then the deign would be submitted to the Defense Departments of NATO member nations. The estimated price of this vessel is merely one billion U.S. dollars (or Monstrous, however much that is) Cash on delivery. No credit. No exceptions. |
