Finding Collectible Sci-Fi Jewelry

So you’re looking for collectible Sci-Fi jewelry but aren’t sure how to find it. How does anyone find anything these days? Whip open that laptop and let’s do a search.

Trekies

Even though Leonard Nimoy has attended his last Star Trek convention, or so he claims, the craze goes on. You can’t think Sci-Fi without thinking Star Trek and the starship Enterprise. Rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pins and watches with the Star Trek symbol on them can still be found. A quick search led me to a $119 men’s watch, gold and silver in color, with a picture of the starship Enterprise on the face and the words Star Trek beneath it. Next to it on the same page was a silver and onyx men’s ring with the Star Trek symbol on the front for $149, and an inscription on the inside that read ‘Space: the final frontier’. Sadly, there are people who would kill for that stuff.

What is ‘Collectible’?

Collectables are only worth money if you can find a collector interested in purchasing them. That said, you will still pay through the nose for most collectible jewelry purchased from dealers (as evidenced by the prices listed in the previous paragraph). You might be able to find much better deals on collectible jewelry at flea markets, auctions, rummage sales and on web sites such as E bay, Amazon and Craig’s list. Sci-Fi frequently ties in with horror and fantasy; but the true Sci-Fi aficionado will not mix them and will probably be insulted if you do. The moral of that statement is that you should be absolutely sure what you’re buying falls within the realm of Sci-Fi and does not crossed over into other genres.

Of course that last statement is assuming that you are buying a collectible piece of Sci-Fi jewelry for a Sci-Fi nut and want it to be a successful endeavor.
